The victim, identified by the initials OA Laia (39), a widow with four children, reported the alleged extortion she experienced on June 20, 2025. The report was followed up by the Tenayan Raya Police on July 21, 2025, under police report number: STPLP/29/VII/2025/POLSEK TENAYAN RAYA.
During the investigation, police examined five witnesses and four alleged perpetrators, some of whom are a married couple with the initials W. Giawa et al.
On November 28, 2025, the victim’s family, G. Buulo’lo’ (a witness) and Ama Teti Buulo’lo’ (family representative), urged authorities to take firm action.
“We ask the Tenayan Raya Police Chief to immediately arrest the four suspects and process them according to the prevailing law,” the family representative stated.
The complainant’s legal counsel, Yunaldi Zega, SH, said that they had sent an official letter to the Tenayan Raya Police Chief on November 24, 2025, referenced as 23/ADV/XII/2025, with copies sent to the Riau Police Chief, the Director of Criminal Investigation of Riau Police, the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of Riau Police, the Inspectorate, and the Pekanbaru Police Chief.
“The actions of the reported individuals meet the elements supported by legally valid evidence according to Article 184 of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). Therefore, we request immediate legal action,” Yunaldi explained.
Yunaldi further stated that one of the suspects, A. Tafonao, had previously filed a civil lawsuit against the complainant at the Pekanbaru District Court on September 18, 2025, which was registered on September 29, 2025, under case number 1712/SK/2025/PN.Pbr.
However, on November 11, 2025, the panel of judges led by Dedy, SH, MH, ruled:
-
The lawsuit is inadmissible (Niet Onvankelijk verklaard).
-
The plaintiff is ordered to pay court fees amounting to Rp160,000 (one hundred sixty thousand rupiah).
The ruling has been attached to the request letter submitted to the Tenayan Raya Police for consideration.
When contacted on November 28, 2025, the Criminal Investigation Unit Head of Tenayan Raya Police, Ibda Abdul Sani, SH, MH, stated that they are still reviewing the documents related to the report filed by Ms. Oda (the complainant).
“I am still examining the files. Several witnesses have indeed been questioned. Regarding the letter from the legal counsel, it is already on my desk but I have not yet had the chance to review it,” he said.
He asked the complainant to give investigators more time.
“We ask the complainant to be patient. We will conduct a case review and process this matter as soon as possible. We are handling many cases, but this report remains a priority,” he added.
The victim’s family and their legal counsel hope that OA Laia will receive justice for what she has experienced and that the legal process will proceed transparently and in accordance with the law.
